In the Tver Province, the moose hunting season is over. However, some hunters continue to kill moose.
According to the local Ministry of Natural Resource and Ecology, eleven moose poaching cases have been registered with 16 mature animals gunned down. The poaching has resulted in a ₽2,000,000 loss.
“All detected poaching cases have entailed criminal proceedings. The poachers are subject to a ₽300,000 criminal fine or up to two years in prison. Also, they are obliged to reimburse ₽120,000 for every killed animal,” authorities say.
It is noteworthy that up until 28 February 2015 the following animals are permitted to hunt: wild boar, hare, raccoon dog, fox, beaver, otter, mink, Siberian weasel, squirrel, lynx, marten, ermine, tinker, weasel, and upland game.
We are here to remind that during hunting seasons, every hunter should abide by the regulations set by Order 512, 16 November 2010, of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation – “About affirming hunting regulations.” Any violation of hunting rules entails administrative punishment – a ₽500-₽5000 fine or termination of hunting license for 1-3 years.
Hunting waterfowl in spring will be prohibited in Russia. The ban will come into force in 2015.
